Savage/SALVAGE is a Dundee-based dance, music and arts project for people who do not normally have the chance to dance.
A pilot scheme was run between April and July 2011 in Ardler Complex and Menzieshill Community Centre.
Young people from theses areas met once a week to try different styles of dance and explore various forms of art with our Learning & Development Manager, Yolanda Aguilar.
The two groups began to create their own work and came together in the summer of 2011 for a Summer School. The theme was to use found objects to create an exciting urban, recycled landscape and to use these recycled objects to create music with to accompany their dance. They worked with musician Andy McLaren to develop these sound scores. We were overwhelmed at that the fantastic, inspirational work that the young people created in such a short time.
Due to the success of this pilot, we are hoping to launch a full Savage/SALVAGE early in 2012.
We will post further details here once they are confirmed. In the meantime, please contact us should you require any further details.
